Podcast 19 Part 2: Live Assessment Panel

I am extremely excited to be sharing with you the final episode of a three part series on assessment. This podcast was recorded live from the 45th National Adapted Physical Education Conference in California. With assessment being a huge topic, each episode was broken into separate pieces. This episode's focus was on using assessment for eligibility purposes and using on-going (i.e., formative) assessment. In addition, at the end of the podcast we take a few audience questions in regards to assessment. To learn more about the California state APE conference Click Here

Assessment Resources
Many APE teachers struggle with assessing students with multiple and severe disabilities. Brad Weiner (2015), a multiple time former guest, created a great assessment tool to use with students with multiple and severe disabilities. This is an especially important tool for our field as we have very few comprehensive assessment tools which aligns with the National PE standards to use to evaluate PE for students with multiple and severe disabilities. This tool has not been validated, however it can be used for formative assessment and confirming data with a standardized tool. In addition, Brad created an early childhood assessment tool  for PE assessment purposes. The assessment tool is called the Early Childhood Assessment of Physical Education Skills (ECAPES). Click here to view the tool.
