Podcast 13: Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a Conversation

Hello podcast listeners! I am excited to be bringing you the 13th official episode of the podcast. This podcast was a casual conversation about ADA with former guest Jeff Lee, from Adaptive Sports and Recreation Association in San Diego. In this podcast we had a casual conversation about some of the parts of the law, the history of how the law came to be, and Jeff's perspective of how the law affected his life, as a person who has a disability.

The conversation we had was short and casual. I want to open this conversation up to our viewers and ask people to shed more light on the law of ADA and how it has affected your life and/or people in your lives.

Please visit the ADA website to find out more about accessibility standards, the exact laws/regulations, and major ADA compliance cases. To find out more information about ADA please visit: ada.gov

One of the text used while researching for this particular topic was the ACSM/NCHPAD Resources for the Inclusive Fitness Trainer. This text offers great information on how to create a fitness center more ADA complaint and well as gives great information on creating an exercise routine for specific disabilities. The NCHPAD website is a tremendous resource for information and tools related to health and disability.

Within the podcast, we also make reference to the text AIMFREE((Accessibility Instruments Measuring Fitness and Recreation Environments), which is an inclusive manual from NCHPAD on how to make an inclusive fitness center and swimming pool.
